MR. E. J. EKERE

Mr. Ekere attended the University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA, on a Federal Government scholarship and graduated with a Masters degree in Engineering (Industrial Option) in 1980. He also holds an MBA (Banking & Finance) of the University of Lagos and is an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business School (Advanced Management Programme 15). After doing the National Youth Service duty during the 1980/81 service year with the Nigerian Industrial Development Bank Limited (NIDB, now Bank of Industry), he was retained by NIDB where he worked as Industrial engineer until 1987 when he resigned to join the services of NAL Merchant Bank Limited (Now Sterling Bank Plc) as an Assistant Manager.

While in NAL, he traversed virtually all the operational departments and rose through various positions. At various times, he was Head, Project Finance Department, Corporate Finance Department, Financial Advisory Services Department, Treasury Department and the Construction & Public Sector Group of the Bank.

He left NAL as a Deputy General Manager and he was appointed Executive Director (Operations) of NEXIM Bank in August, 2003. He is a member of a number of professional bodies including the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and is happily married with children.
