Executive Management Team

Abubakar A. Bello, Managing Director / Chief Executive

MDAbba Bello has 26 years’ experience in banking, where he has held senior management positions in corporate banking, regional and commercial banking, and public sector banking in more than a decade. Abba also had a brief stint in auditing.

Abba is a graduate of accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He also holds post-graduate degree in Business Administration from University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Until his appointment as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Export-Import Bank in April 2017, he was Executive Director, Unity Bank Plc, in charge of Corporate Banking, Agriculture and North Directorate.

Abba has cognate experience in international banking. He was the pioneer Managing Director/CEO of United Bank for Africa Plc’s subsidiaries in the Republic of Chad and Zambia for several years.

Abba has attended several courses in Nigeria and abroad in leadership, advanced management, and executive management. He is a member of Chartered Institute of Bankers Nigeria, and a Fellow, Institute of Credit Administration.

Bala M. Bello , Executive Director (Corporate Services)

ED_CSBala M. Bello has about two decades experience in the financial services industry, including banking, capital market and pension fund management. He has worked in senior executive level in the last seven years prior to his appointment as Executive Director, Corporate Services, Nigerian Export Export-Import Bank.

Bala holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, and an MBA, both from The Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Bala began his banking career with Guaranty Trust Bank Plc; and later joined the Securities and Exchange Commission. In 2005, he joined Sigma Pensions Ltd, and was appointed the Executive Director/COO in 2011 and ED Operations from 2013 to 2014. In this capacity he had direct administrative responsibility of over N260 billion ($1.5 billion) funds/assets under management (A-U-M).

Bala established, and served as the founding CEO of the Marine Capital Limited, a real estate development and business/pensions advisory firm  in February 2015; and subsequently joined Apricot Investments Limited in March 2016 as the pioneer Managing Director/CEO.

Bala has completed the High Potential Leadership Program at Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts and Executive Development Program at Wharton Business School, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania both in the United States of America. He also holds a certificate in Operations Leadership from the prestigious Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, Canada, as well as Portfolio Management Academy Certificate, New York Institute of Finance

Hon. Stella Okotete Executive Director (Business Development)

EDBD PhotoHon. Stella Okotete possesses significant experience in public policy design and implementation, public-private partnership management, international development and general administration.

A graduate of the Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, from where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy, Stella also holds a Diploma in Law from the Rivers State College of Arts and Sciences.

Until her appointment as Executive Director, Business Development, Stella had a rich mix of professional experience in both the public and private sectors. In 2015, she founded and led a start-up company where she was responsible for providing local and international clients with expert advice, scalable industrial solutions, and opportunities to utilise turnkey solutions for various industrial needs and requirements.

Between 2011 and 2015, she served as the Special Assistant and Adviser to the Executive Governor of Delta State on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) where she provided leadership in establishing and executing programmes with agency groups to ensure that the goals as well as targets of the United Nations Millennium Declaration were met. In this regard, she championed the Review and effective management of the Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) business policy to tackle poverty and create employment in line with MDGs mandate. She also supported the M&E team of the State’s CCT Scheme and Social Development Policy that aided the growth and expansion of business clusters in the state.

Prior to leading the Delta State MDGs, Stella had a brief stint in politics, having served as an elected Councillor in Ughelli North Local Government Area, a position that helped sharpen her understanding of the socio-economic needs of neglected communities. She was able to deploy this knowledge to ensure that neglected communities in the state were positively impacted by the state’s MDGs strategic intervention programmes.

Stella is the Co Founder E’Girls Right Foundation and an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School certificate program for Emerging Leaders as well as the Lagos Business School’s Enterprise Development Centre program in Entrepreneurial Management. She is keenly involved in volunteer work and has worked with Internally Displaced Persons at IDP Camps in Ughelli, Maiduguri and Abuja.

Dr. Emmanuel Moore. Abolo, DGM/ Head, Calabar Regional Office

ABOLO Dr Abolo holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of Lagos and is a fellow of five professional institutes in Nigeria. He was a two-term President of the Risk Managers Association of Nigeria [RIMAN] . He once served as Director in the following organisations:  FBN Bureau De Change [subsidiary of First Bank of Nigeria Plc]  ; FBN Insurance Brokers Ltd (subsidiary of First Bank);  First Registrars Nigeria Ltd (subsidiary of First Bank); and Access Investment & Trust Limited [Subsidiary of Access Bank Plc] He was awarded the National Merit Award by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1984 as a result of his high academic standing at the university of Lagos.He started his academic career first as a Graduate Assistant and later as an Associate Lecturer [Economics Department] at the University of Lagos, Nigeria before taking up career in public service, journalism, consulting and finance/ banking industry. He is a tested and renowned professional with extensive experience in economic research, governance, risk management and compliance, project management, strategy crafting and execution spanning over 20 years. He is a business development expert with ability to link risk to corporate strategy. He has covered extensively the three critical areas of risk management and beyond —Credit, Market and Operational risk with robust and vast knowledge of Basel Accords Implementation, integrated stress testing as well as the COSO framework. He is an international scholar, a respected and seasoned economist, a prolific writer with strong passion for value creation. Dr. Abolo is a member of many professional bodies—American Economic Association; Canadian Economics Association; Nigeria Economic Society, etc. He joined the Nigerian Export-Import Bank in 2011 as the first Chief Risk and Compliance Officer in the history of the Bank.. Prior to this time, he was the first Chief Economist & Head, Group Market Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Chief Anti-Fraud Officer, ERM Co-ordinator, Project Manager-Basel II and Knowledge Manager all at Access Bank Plc. He was one time Head, Operational Risk Management Group, Project Manager[ Basel II], first Chief Economist, Head [ Strategy] all at First Bank of Nigeria Plc and has also worked in the following organisations: Coopers & Lybrand, National Centre for Economic Management and Administration, Credit Alliance Financial Services, Financial Post ,etc. Dr. Abolo is a Council member, Gerson Lehrman Group; GRC Faculty member, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and one-time Member, National Think Tank of Nigeria. He was listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the World [ 1997-2000]. He is equally listed among Africa’s finest minds in Risk Management by the World Bank. He is a Certified Compliance Officer [cco] obtained from the International Academy of Business & Financial Management, USA. He is the author of the book: The Economics of Public Expenditure Analysis which was launched in 2016. Dr.Abolo is happily married with Children

Very Rev. Ifeanyichukwu Chidiadi Nwade, DGM/Head, Special Recovery Team

VERY REV VERY REV. IFEANYICHUKWU CHIDIADI NWADE graduated from the prestigious University of Lagos in 1988 with B.Sc. (Honours) Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of Calabar and obtained Diplomas in Theology and Computer Operations. He joined the services of NEXIM on March 4, 1992 and has worked in various departments of the Bank. He was Head of Corporate Affairs from 2000 to 2001, Head of the Underwriting Department of the Bank from March 2007 and later in January 2009 was redeployed to Head the Credit Administration – Project Finance Department of the Bank. Very Rev. Nwade is presently the Deputy General Manager/Head of the Project Finance Department of NEXIM Bank. He also represents the Bank as President of the West African Bankers Association (WABA) Nigerian Chapter. He is a Professional/Chartered Engineer (MNSE), a Chartered Manager (MNIM), a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and Equipment Leasing Association of Nigeria (ELAN). He is also a Senior Associate Member of the Risk Managers’ Association of Nigeria (RIMAN). He is a Fellow of The Institute of Credit Administration (FICA). He has skills and competencies in Marketing, Credit Appraisal, Project Supervision, Treasury, Foreign Operations, Underwriting, Corporate Communications, Trade Finance, Corporate Finance and Project Finance. Very Rev. Nwade’s working career, which spans over twenty eight (28) years, commenced in 1986 at Volkswagen of Nigeria, Guinness Nigeria Limited and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Very Rev. I. C. Nwade is an Ordained Minister in the Methodist Church Nigeria and is currently stationed in the Abuja Archdiocese of the Church. He harmoniously combines his Banking Occupation with his calling as a Clergy Man. Very Rev. I. C. Nwade is happily married with children.

Ahmed Dahiru Modibbo, DGM/Board Secretary/Legal Adviser

MODIBOAhmed D. Modibbo joined the services of NEXIM Bank on 8th March 1993 and is currently the Secretary to the Board/Legal Adviser. Modibbo holds an LLB (Honours) Degree from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, in 1990, a BL (Barrister at Law) professional qualification from the Nigerian Law School Lagos, in 1991. Between 2004 to 2006, he obtained the International Bar Association/ College of Law of England and Wales International Practice Diplomas in International Mergers & Acquisitions, International Business Organizations, International Competition Law, International Intellectual Property Law and International Joint Ventures. In March 2007 he became the first Nigerian to attain the status of a Fellow of the International Bar Association in International Legal Practice. In October 2005, he acquired a UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training & Research) Certificate in Negotiation of Financial Transactions. He is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association and is also a Student Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (UK) and was at one time a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria Technical Committee on Realisation of Secured Credits in Nigeria. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he had carried out several key assignments for the Bank such as the coordination of the Banks Corporate Transformation Programme [2010-2011]. Before joining the services of NEXIM he had a brief stint as a Legal Officer with the Voice of Nigeria, Lagos and was also in private legal practice. Mr.Modibbo is married with Children.

Dorothy Ogbutor (Ms.), AGM/Head, Lagos Regional Office

Ms Dorothy Enuka OGBUTOR is currently the Head, (Treasury and Foreign Operations Department) of Nigerian Export-Import Bank [NEXIM]. She is a graduate of the University of Jos with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 1988, and an MBA from the University of Calabar in 2004. Ms Ogbutor worked briefly in two Finance Houses as Treasury Officer, from where she began her banking career with the Nigerian Export-Import Bank [NEXIM] on February 1, 1993 as Export Credit Officer II, and has since been in the services of the Bank till date.

Ms Ogbutor in the number of years in the Bank had acquired broad experiences in various aspects of the Bank’s operations [Corporate Services and Business Development Groups]. The positions held prior to the present schedule are Head Calabar Area Office, Head Lagos Area Office, Head Trade Finance Appraisal Department and Head Treasury/Foreign Operations.

Ms Ogbutor represents the Bank at various meetings, fora, and professional bodies. Some of the representations include Executive Council Meeting of the West African Bankers Association [WABA]; United Nations, International Trade Facilitation Forum; Association of Nigerian Development Finance Institutions [ANDFI], and was the pioneer Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Association titled “Development Finance Platform” as well as Association of African Development Finance Institutions [AADFI] to mention but a few.

She also represents the Bank at various strategic partnership meetings with Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Export Group; NACCIMA Export Action Group, etc. Currently, she is the Alternate Director, representing NEXIM on the Board of NEXPORTRADE Houses Limited, a Public/Private Partnership [Export Trade House/Export Facilitation] company, in the Nigerian company and a Director in NEXPORTRADE Houses Liberia Inc.

Ms. Ogbutor is widely travelled and had attended so many training programmes, workshops and conferences both in Nigeria and overseas.

Adaeze Ebegbulem (Mrs.), AGM/Head, Information Technology Department

AdaMRS. ADAEZE MARIE-THERESE EBEGBULEM, AGM/Head Trade Finance Department graduated from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri in 1990 with a Bachelor of Engineering Technology Degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering. After her National Youth Service Corps in Rivers State, she commenced her professional career in 1991 with Bull Information Systems Nigeria Limited as a Software Engineer. She left Bull Information Systems Limited in November 15, 1993 to join the Nigerian Export-Import Bank as an Export Credit Officer. During her career in the Bank, she has headed several departments including Information Technology Department, Credit Admin – Trade Finance Department, Admin Services Department, Human Resources Department and Trade Finance Department. She is currently the AGM/Head, Trade Finance Department and the Acting Head, Human Resources Department. She has over the years acquired skills and competencies in marketing, credit appraisal, international trade finance, credit administration/supervision, team building, management of human resources and process automation. Mrs. Ebegbulem is a Certified International Trade and Finance Professional (by the Institute of Financial Services, UK). She is also a Chartered Information Technology Professional and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and a Member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). Adaeze is happily married with children.

Chinedu Moghalu, AGM/Head, Enugu Regional Office

He has a balanced mix of composite skills and expertise in corporate communication, especially crisis communication; government/public relations; reputation management; corporate social responsibility, imaginative writing, strategic policy formulation frameworks, social analysis and labour relations; national and international contacts; entrenched knowledge of legal and political systems as well as business of Legislative bodies; fully savvy in information-communication-technology,  storytelling, public speaking and results-oriented people management. Prior to joining NEXIM Bank on February 1, 2011 as Head of Corporate Communication, Mr Moghalu worked for more than 10 years career with various United Nations Agencies both at national, regional and global levels. Chinedu Moghalu holds an M.Sc. degree in Social Sciences, in addition to a B.Sc. degree in Political Science and an LL.B/BL degrees from the University Nigeria, Nsukka, University of Lagos, Akoka and Nigerian Law School. He is a member of the NBA, IBA, IPRA, the AU/UNECA backed African Development Forum, etc

Olatayo Omidiji, AGM/Head, Strategic Planning Department

Tayo-pic Mr. Tayo Omidiji obtained the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Agricultural Economics from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Nigeria and also holds a Master’s degree in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana. He is a research executive with very deep knowledge of the Nigerian and global business environment. His work experience spans over 20 years in the Nigerian financial services sector during which he has served as economic/policy analyst, business information specialist, investment analyst and strategy/ planning manager. Prior to joining NEXIM Bank, he has worked in various organizations where he held prominent positions, including Research Manager at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Head, Research & Financial Advisory at the Financial Derivatives Company Limited; Head, Strategic Planning at NAL Bank Plc and Head, Research & Strategy in Sterling Capital Markets Limited (then the Investment Banking Arm of Sterling Bank). He has attended several seminars and training programmes in Nigeria and overseas and is an alumnus of the United States International Visitor Programme

Mathias Terhemba Sendave, AGM/Head, Internal Audit Department

Mr SendaveMr. Mathias Terhemba Sendave  graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. After his National Youth Service Corps in Rivers State, he started his professional training with the then Peat Marwick Ani Ogunde & Co., which later became KPMG and then Akintola Williams Deloitte. This training exposed him to financial operations in different sectors of the economy including finance and banking, educational, manufacturing, services, government, non-governmental and the like. He left Deloitte in 2009 for American University of Nigeria, Yola as the Director of Financial Operations. He was later promoted to Senior Director before joining NEXIM on 1 July 2015. Mr Sendave, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria also obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola in 2014 and is currently running a PhD programme in Business Administration with American University of Nigeria, Yola. He is happily married with children.
